BlockFi Says Vermont Has Joined Ranks of States Probing the Crypto Lender

Embattled cryptocurrency lender BlockFi is going through scrutiny from regulators in a fourth state, Vermont, over the legality of its curiosity account product.

In response to BlockFi’s web site, securities regulators in Vermont have issued an order on the matter. What that order mentioned will not be but recognized.

However it comes as companies in Alabama, Texas and New Jersey are investigating whether or not the agency’s marquee providing, the BlockFi Curiosity Account (BIA), violates native securities legal guidelines. New Jersey has given BlockFi till July 29 to elucidate itself earlier than the state bars the agency from opening new accounts.

BlockFi has countered that it doesn’t consider BIA is a safety. It mentioned it’s in energetic discussions with regulators on the matter.

Neither BlockFi nor the Vermont Division of Monetary Regulation responded to a request for remark from CoinDesk.
