Greenidge Era LLC, an upstate New York-based Bitcoin (BTC) mining agency has reportedly threatened authorized motion over repeated “demonstrably false” claims from native activists.
Greenidge mines BTC at its gas-fired energy plant close to the Seneca Lake in Dresden, and the agency has been locked in a long-running battle with activists who allege that the agency’s practices are damaging to the native setting.
Activists Yvonne Taylor and Abi Buddington declare that the Greenidge CEO Dale Irwin despatched them “threatening” letters in response to their public pushback towards the agency. The letters have since been shared publicly and seek advice from pursuing “all authorized treatments obtainable” if the activists proceed to “deliberately deceive the general public by outright mendacity about our firm’s operations.”
Taylor is the co-founder of the Seneca Lake Guardian environmentalist group, who has accused Greenidge of “spewing greenhouse gases and placing hundreds of thousands of gallons of thermal air pollution again into the Seneca Lake day by day.” Buddington has spoken out towards the agency on a number of events, questioning its regulatory compliance and environmental impacts.
Throughout an interview with Spectrum Information 1’s Capital Tonight on Oct. 27, Taylor was questioned on the character of the authorized threats. She claims that Greenidge had threatened to sue them in the event that they didn’t maintain “quiet” earlier this month, and urged that the letters had been part of a scare tactic.
