EU postpones final vote on MiCA for the second time in two months

The ultimate vote on the European Union’s (EU) much-awaited set of crypto guidelines, often called the Markets in Crypto Property regulation (MiCA), was deferred to April 2023. It marks the second delay within the ultimate vote, which was beforehand postponed from November 2022 to February 2023.

The newest delay is because of a technical difficulty the place the official 400-page doc couldn’t be translated into the 24 official languages of the EU, in line with The Block. Stefan Berger, a member of the European Parliament’s economics committee, has describedthe FTX collapseas one of many “Lehman Brothers moments” that “should be prevented,” when arguing for the need of laws equivalent to MiCA.

With MiCA, European policymakers intention to set an ordinary regulation to determine harmonized guidelines for crypto belongings on the EU stage, thereby offering authorized certainty for crypto belongings not coated by present EU laws.
